Hi. When I playback a video recording captured using the Camera app on the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus there is no sound. I know the mics and speaker work fine as I'm able to record and playback audio using the Voice recorder app. Any ideas what could be the problem and how can this be resolved? *Note - This is a new phone. Not rooted.

The guy at Best Buy explained to me that just tapping anywhere on the video thumbnail plays the video without sound. To get sound you have to actually tap on the white triangle in the middle of the thumbnail. While I'm tempted to feel a bit sheepish about this "operator error", the phone doesn't come with a user manual. I upgraded from an S-III that I rarely used, which means I haven't upgraded in a long time. I guess regular smart phone users and regular upgraders know how to run videos.
THANK YOU GUY AT BEST BUY!! and thank you for sharing! I love it when I find posts like yours giving such simple solutions to what seemed to be huge problems 👏👏👏
Yep, sheepish describes how I felt when I tried that and it worked! I appreciate your input and it saved me from just deleting all my videos lol
Hi.. I bought a galaxy A5 2 days ago and I have this problem too. I've read all the comments, but I cant find this white triangle on my camera part. 😕😣 would you pls help me?!
The white triangle is not a button on your camera, it appears in the middle of the video screen when you tap on the video you want to watch. If you just tap on the video, you only get a silent preview of the video. After you tap on the video once then tap on the white triangle on the screen and you will get the video with sound. Make sure your sound is turned up.
It's the play button 😁
Aha fixed. My last Samsung it was an earphone thing so you would not hurt ears by accident.
This solution worked for me. Go to Settings>Sounds and Vibrations>Volume>Media. You can adjust media volume there.
Note: Tapping the white triangle in middle of screen didn't work.
I tried the clearing out cache suggestion below. Immediately after doing this and returning to the video, the volume was automatically on media voIume. I increased the volume; the sound worked; I then backtracked to locate the feature in settings.
The same time I found out that I had to have bluetooth turned off to hear sound on videos, I realized what a pain it was going to be having to remember to turn bluetooth back on when I got in my truck in order to pair with my truck phone. I heard there is a fix. Anyone know what it is?
