Hi. When I playback a video recording captured using the Camera app on the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus there is no sound. I know the mics and speaker work fine as I'm able to record and playback audio using the Voice recorder app. Any ideas what could be the problem and how can this be resolved? *Note - This is a new phone. Not rooted.

The guy at Best Buy explained to me that just tapping anywhere on the video thumbnail plays the video without sound.  To get sound you have to actually tap on the white triangle in the middle of the thumbnail.  While I'm tempted to feel a bit sheepish about this "operator error", the phone doesn't come with a user manual.    I upgraded from an S-III that I rarely used, which means I haven't upgraded in a long time.  I guess regular smart phone users and regular upgraders know how to run videos.

Hey @DavidG, that's a stange one! :smileyfrustrated:

Does this only happen with videos you've recorded via the default camera app?

Could you try clearing the app cache? Go to Settings > Storage > Cached data > Clear. (This will clear all cache data).

Can you also check if you can hear the sound when you use earphones?

Just to let you know, I've got the same problem.  The S8 camera records audio but will not play it back.  The S8 video audio sounds fine on my desktop.  The S8 also will not play the audio of previously recorded vids on other devices like my point-and-shoot camera, which also play fine on my desktop.  I've tried with earplugs in and still no audio.  Comcast TV is great, and my sound recorder app plays back okay.  I'm heading to Best Buy shortly for a fix or a refund.

I have the same issue... but there is no white triangle in the middle of the thumbnail so I don't know what this is referring to.

There is a white triangle in the lower left of the video thumbnails but clicking that produces the same behavior as clicing anywhere else. Video plays, no audio.

This happens only with videos saved to the phone or recorded with the camera. If I stream anythig online, it's fine. Game audio, fine. Etc...

Samsung Galaxy Note 8:  I had the same issue; no sound on YouTube or video made by camera.  After reading through posts, i realized i was still connected to bluetooth earbuds (not wearing them at the time).  Turned off bluetooth and sound returned.  Got to be aware of so much on these new phones.
