Unable to Change text bubble or background in New Update

Hello,

Has there been any communication as to why phone users are now restricted from having a background in their text messaging app?

Until this update, when in the screen where you text person's back, I had a background and could edit the text bubbles, now it's restricted to a white background with blue bubble which I very much dislike. 

Any news on this?

If you go into your Messages app, then the message with the person you're wanting to alter it for, click the dots top right and then the change wallpaper option should be there.
Sadly I can't find a setting to change the text bubble colours.

Yes, that is the normal process;however, currently there are no options for background wallpaper nor bubble customization :'-(

On the screen that gives you the background colour options, there's a symbol that let's you choose from your gallery (red blob with a white flower-like symbol).
That should solve the wallpaper option
