Strange number on my contacts

Hi, Can anyone help? I have a Galaxy S7, and in my contacts under "Me" every time I turn my phone back on there is a second mobile number listed, not mine nor one I know, I keep going into my account and deleting it but if I turn my phone off and later turn it back on this number reappears. I have tried calling it and it is dead. Appreciate any advice on how I can permanently delete this number,  thanks.

I encountered this with new phones fro my carrier. It seems phones that get sent out are allocated a phone number. Despite transferring my number, the old number still showed and only disappeared when I flashed non carrier OS to my phone.

Hi, thanks so much for your reply, that makes sense now, however I don't  know what you mean by flashed non carrier OS, if you could explain this to me It would be much appreciated thanks.
