I just completed the transfer of my old phone Galaxy S9+ to my Galaxy 22 Ultra, my photos showed in the Gallery app on the Ultra and now are gone. I did the factory reset on my Galaxy 9+, I assume my photos are no longer retrievable?

Replying long after the original query, but I think it might be useful.
To answer Lucy's question about the SIM card: I'm doing data transfer right now from my old S2 to my new A71. Whether or not the SIM card is present in either device doesn't matter, because the SIM is purely about providing access to your mobile network provider, whereas SmartSwitch uses either direct USB connection or WiFi.
If you keep your contacts/addressbook info stored on your SIM, it will get transferred across when you insert the SIM into your new phone. Hope that helps... 🙂
