Samsung S7 Edge - Stuck in a boot-loop.

Hi all!

My Samsung S7 Edge is stuck in a bootloop. It previously would get to various stages in the reboot cycle but this most recent occurence of the device crashing is the worst yet.

The device is stuck turning itself on and off. I have tried restarting in 'Safe Mode' but the phone will not respond to the actions and continues in the rebooting/crashing/rebooting cycle. The reboot never gets beyond the first Samsung welcome page you get when you normally turn the phone on.

I have tried to access the menu that gives you the options to 'reboot' and 'clear cache' etc but i get a 'No Command' screen with a dead android and an exclammation mark. I have tried the various button combinations to try and get past this screen but nothing works.

The phone does not power off.

My phone is not seen by my computer when it is connected but it does light up my charger, indicating i hope that it is responding to a charge, though leaving it on charge makes the device way too hot.

The only other menu is the one to install custom OS but i don't want to do that so i leave that screen alone! Just select the restart option.

This problem has happened before but this most recent epidsode has made my phone feel too hot for comfort, irritatingly unresponsive and just plain useless. It has been in a bootloop now for over eight hours.

Hoping i can find some help from the wider samsung community!

Many thanks

Hi,

In the end I took my phone to a Samsung shop (the one i purchased it off) and raised the issue there. They went ahead and inspected the phone and attempted to 'flash' it to fix any software issues. At this point it was completely stuck in the bootloop, was getting insanely overheated and wasn't responding to any button actions, press sequences etc. It took them a couple of hours to do this so i had to leave my phone with them.

This course of action failed and they instead figured out that the problem with my phone specifically was the motherboard. There was a fault on the hardware itself. They in the end took my phone from me and held it overnight while they replaced the motherboard. Since the replacement of the motherboard my phone hasn't glitched out once.

If your phone is suffering from the same issues as mine i would recommend you actually take it to a Samsung store and talk to them about the issue. They will probably try and flash it to reset the software and if that fails they should be able to sort out a new motherboard for you, if that turns out the be the issue with your phone.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Emper,

I would try to break the loop by doing in to download mode and then exiting it and see if that can break the loop other wise you will have to flash the phone with the offical ROM

 try this

How to boot Download Mode for Samsung Galaxy S7:

Method 1 – Boot Download Mode manually:

  1. Power off your smartphone completely by holding Power button.
  2. Next, press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons at the same time.
  3. Release the buttons when the Warning alert screen is displayed on your phone.
  4. Now, press Volume Up to load Galaxy S7 Download Mode.
  5. To exit Download Mode press power button down for 10seconds and your device will reboot in normal mode.

That's as long as we can get it in to download mode you may have to try a few times to get the timing right in between reboots. let me know how that goes.

Hi @Bades1978

Thanks greatly for the swift advice!

I've done as you've suggested. Get the download mode on the screen and exit it but it just gets stuck in the same bootloop again.

I've tried leaving the phone to drain itself to being completely dead and then recharged but when switched on it just keeps up the same thing, on/off/on/off, never getting passed the initial start up Samsung message.

Ok you will have to do a fresh flash using Odin or take it to a Samsung store and see if they can do it for you I will give you the link on how to do it as we know it can go in to download mode fine.

YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOUR MODEL IS SM-G930F and SM-G935F models. (check the box)

ALL links for software are in this post I could have talked you through it but less chance I miss some thing, you will need a PC to do this with so you can also bring up the page there if you do it yourself.

This is also happening to my phone. I took it to my carrier Vodafone uk and they said it was a software issue but will not help as there is a barely visible scratch on the screen which is not affecting the performance of the phone. what should I do?

My phone has been stuck in bootloop for 4 hours following a software update. It is also getting very hot.  Can this be fixed. The phone is only 3 months old.

Thank you - I'll try this. My carrier Vodafone said it would not covered by warranty as although it is a software issue there is a tiny scratch on the screen.  They said the scrath wasn't causing any problems but still voided the warranty?
