Check this out. I get this result frofrom time to time when when typing on my Samsung keyboard. It doesn't seem like there's a rhyme or reason to it, all of a sudden the text just seems to take off by itself

Do you tihtihitihtihin this might be because I type too quickly for the kekeykekeybkekeykekeybokekeykekeybkekeykekeyboakekeykekeybkekeykekeybokekeykekeybkekeykekeyboarkekeykekeybkekeykekeybokekeykekeybkekeykekeyboakekeykekeybkekeykekeybokekeykekeybkekeykekeyboard to keep up with?

Anyone else observed this behavior? I literally just reset the keyboard settings before typing this message.

That's very strange, @Drinkdrawers!

Is the software on your phone up to date?

Let's also try a soft reset on the phone. Press and hold the Volume down and Power/Lock keys for 10-20 seconds until your phone restarts.

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the reply. I gave that ashot a? it seems to have alleviated the proprobproproblproprobproprobleproprobproproblproprobproproblem for a bit? But as you can see the keyboard isstill behaving very strangely. It also seems to skip letters ahead sometime in place of putting a space in between two words

I mean I'm clcleclcleaclcleclclealclcleclcleaclcleclclealrclcleclcleaclcleclclealclcleclcleaclcleclclealry not doing a lot of editing on this stuff, but it still shouldn't be behaving like thithis.? s?

Also, the question mark is now where the comma was, next to the space bar... womp womp.

I figured out the button next to the spacebar :smiling-face:

I just had to long-press to switch it.

And it seems like the keyboard might act up less when the phone hasn't been running as many apps, like right now since I just woke up. So maybe it's a system resource thing?

That's great to hear, @Drinkdrawers! Let us know if you experience the issue again though.

Well, it happens all the rimrime, Carl. It just goes away for a little whwhiwhwhilwhwhiwhwhile when I restart my phone or clear the RAM.

You can see how easy it is to reproduce. All I have to do is type for a little while and there you have it!

If you restart the phone in Safe Mode via the following steps, does the issue persist? If not then please remove any recently installed third party apps as this is likely to be the cause of your problem: Turn the device off > Press and hold the Power key > Release the Power key when the phone logo appears > Press and hold the Volume Down key immediately after releasing the Power key > Continue to hold the Volume Down button until the device finishes booting.

Putting the phone in safe mode seems to have resolved it. I haven't been able to get it to recur since doing so.

Is any app a potential culprit? Or just those that run some kind of connection with the keyboard (Lastpass, for instance)?

This would lead us to believe that a third party app is the culprit. Best bet is to start disabling these apps and checking if the issue occurs again. We'd advise starting with the most likely apps as you have suggested.

Do let us know how you get on.

It is unfortunately functionally impossible to test this in real life. I would need to devote a big chunk of time to systematically disabling apps and then testing to see what effect it had on what is already a sporadic issue. I tried it a few times and had to give up.

Any ideas for how to test something like this in a little more reasonable manner? Target likely candidates first?

That being said, it honestly seems to happen in Chrome more than anywhere else, and seems to hahaphahapphahaphahappehahaphahapphahaphahappen more when the Chrome app is running than when it isn't. But it seems like it Chrome was the culprit, more people would be reporting it...
