I keep getting a message to say the Samsung Cloud is stopping synching with gallery from the end of this month, and I should download everything to Microsoft One Drive. Would like some advice please, if I don't do this, will I lose all my photos?

Simple answer... YES!! If you haven't already got one, setup a Microsoft account to allow your gallery to handle your storage.

Yes @janny108 , @Steven9761  is correct and  I would  say it is advisable to use Microsoft One Drive.   However it is not the only Back up option.
