I have the opposite problem when I ring some one it's rings and I can hear the ringing tone, but when they answer I can't hear them but they can hear me. That's on a a A20e. I don't think it's the device because you can hear the ringing tone so the ear piece is obviously working so I think it must be a service provider issue. I'm with ee if that helps and it doesn't always happen. Hope this helps. Test if it happens on loud speaker to wipe our any microphone on your device issues.
