Samsung 8+ Gallery video player

I just upgraded from a Note 4 to an S8+

I have a load of videos in the gallery that I can't watch directly from the gallery because they open in a weird video player that plays no audio and doesn't give the option to forward/ reverse through the file etc. If I open the videos directly from their folder in the files app the play normally.

How can I change the video player that gsllery uses?

I have no idea what the default player is - there are no video players listed under installed apps in settings so I can't make any alterations to default settings.

Any help?

Go into your Settings > Apps > Click the 3 little dots at the top of the right-hand corner > Show system apps, and in there scroll down to video player and set it as default or clear the default, whichever is causing the issue.

Thanks for this.  Unfortunately ad I only seem to have one video player installed (the standard Samsung stock player) i don't have the option to see it as default our stop it being the default. Under set as default it reads "None set as default" and all the options are greyed out.

In the same system app part about the video player app did you allow the video player to have 'permission' of your storage? If not tick that and see if that helps buddy.

Thanks again but I have checked that and it already has storage permissions...

Mmm it's a strange one, unless there's a setting we're missing I'd suggest downloading a video player app and use that as default and see if that cures the issue, because as you say you want to be able to go straight into your gallery and watch the video instantly instead of all the faffing around with files.
