S8 SMS crashing

Can anyone help.

Have had my S8 for a week and yesterday when I try and send an SMS it freezes and then crashes.  It tries to re-open and then crashes again and says "App keeps stopping" Close APP

This is very annoying, anyone know how to fix.  Have tried the usual restart etc.

Hi,

If this was my phone I'd first try clearing any caches and data from the app.

Then if necessary clear the phones system cache.
Clear System Cache.
To boot the Galaxy S8 into recovery, start by turning the device completely off. Once it's off, press and hold the Bixby and volume up buttons, then press the power button. Let go of the power once the phone turns on, while still keeping the Bixby and volume up buttons pressed. Let go of the rest of the buttons when you see the blue screen with the Android logo.

Then if necessary back up and factory reset.

You could also try an alternative SMS app such as textra.
