S8 - How to power off phone without security?

Hi,

I'm new to Samsung phones and have just purchased the s8. I have set up password and face recognition for the lock screen. Annoyingly, the phone also asks me to add password or FR when I power off the phone. I have been through all settings and searched Google/Samsung for a way to turn this feature off.

Can anyone tell me how to turn off the security when turning off the phone only?

Many thanks in advance.

Can you try this same operation in safe mode please?

Turn on and use safe mode

Safe mode allows you to turn on the device with third-party apps disabled. Then you can easily uninstall apps that may be causing a conflict or software problem.

Turn the device off.
Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen.
When "SAMSUNG" appears on the screen, release the Power key.
Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.

Turn off safe mode
Press and hold the Power key.
Tap Restart.

let me know the out come please :smiling-face:

That worked :smiling-face: After a restart in safe mode I then rebooted the phone and now it powers down without the asking for the pw or fr.

Thank you very much for your reply and help

Hey @Ramage and @Bades1978,

I'd advise keeping this feature on as it prevents other people turning your phone off if you have lost it, or if it has been stolen - Meaning you'd still be able to view your phone on Find My Mobile or Android Device Manager.
