Our engineers, as part of the troubleshooting process, must address any identified issues to ensure that they are not a contributing factor, and to prevent further issues from arising. In this instance the damage to the case of your phone must be repaired along with the fault you have reported, in order to bring the device back into warranty. I understand that this wasn't the resolution you were hoping for, however this is standard practice at all of our authorised repair locations.
