Hello,

I see that Reactivation lock is missing from S8, is there any alternative ?

Even though i think removing this very good ability is a bad idea

Thx

Hi @NyperCro, looks like @JordanH was talking about the older phones it has not been a feature since the S6's as it is now handled by google via https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager you can lock/ring/erase from there these days. Hope that helps :smiling-face:

After reading a few websites, I think its been replaced by the Factory Reset Protection feature in Android Lollipop and later. In short, if you sign into a Google account it is then automatically protected agains resets in the same way as Samsung's Reactivation Lock worked.

Hey @NyperCro.

This is still built in to the S8.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Open the Settings App and then tap the Personal Tab.
  3. Now go to Lock screen and security.
  4. You should now see Find my Mobile, open it. You will be asked to enter your Samsung account credentials.
  5. Within the Find my Mobile option, you should see Reactivation Lock is on.
  6. Tap the slider to make sure Reactivation Lock is turned off.

Let us know if you have any issues with the above steps.

I cannot find that option, even though i can find it on Note 4, but on S8+ no. I must point that phone is for German market, is that makes difference ?

:smiling-face: yeah you can still do it via the Samsung site (https://findmymobile.samsung.com/) but can no longer see a option to enter on the phone.

I can't find the "Find my mobile" setting on my Verizon S8.

How to I disable reactivation lock so I can change my Samsung password?

Hi,

I followed the steps you suggested.

I cant find any option for the reactivation lock but I have found several articles online saying that its missing from the s8 and s8+.

It sounds a bit backwards to me, surely security should be improvong on these devices!?
