Hi! If a photo is taken on a device then the sim card is moved to a different device but the same google account would that photo automatically be on the new device? TIA

Make sure Google photo backup is enabled, to check this go to Google photos an see if your recent photos are there to see, if not then you need to set this up, other than that use a Micro SD card if your phone has the ability.

Hi, thw sim card has nothing to do with photos.

If you will and you want to retain maxumum picture quality you should move the photos from your old phone to a pc and then to your new phone
