I would think a person needs to first split the frequencies in their home broadband router to 2.4ghz and 5ghz and name them as such and then when turning on WiFi connection in the phone choose the 5ghz option.

I think people are aware of such things, they are asking because even after that phone won't connect to 5G (btw my other devices such as Laptop and pads are connected to 5G). Verizon Router page displays all devices which are connected to either 5G or 2.4G.
