Missing/ disappearing photos and albums on samsung s7

I was attempting to transfer photos from my phone to my laptop when I noticed that there were photos missing from some of albums. When I tried to work out where these were by using Samsung cloud I noticed an album had disappeared. Is there anything I can do to try and retrieve these photos?

@Hollyjane: If you go to Apps > Samsung (Folder) > My Files > Images, are the pictures present in this location? Similarly, if you go to Apps > Google (Folder) > Photos (pin wheel thumbnail image), do you find the images are archived here? You can also access your Google Photos archive on your home computer by checking the link below and signing in with your Google account details.

Thanks for your response. I have managed to transfer some of my photos to my laptop but I still can't find some photos missing from my gallery
