J3 Marshmallow update

 Hi people, 

I'm looking for some information on when/if my J3 will be getting the update to Marshmallow.

Currently running on J320FNXXU0AQE3  5.1.1

IMEI *************

Popped into the Samsung store last week and they could not give me any info at all although I do know that these phones are coming with Marshmallow preloaded in some stores.

Main reason for asking is due to having been caught out before where Samsung stopped updating my old phone 3 months after I bought it.

Hey @RDH

As long as you have automatic updates turned on you will receive the update as soon as it's available. 

However, it may also be the case that your phone has reached it's maximum software capabilities.

Just wondering  have  a samsung j3 and i am also waiting for the update but what do you mean by full maximum software capabilities

Surely if i have the imei information you can tell me whether my phone has the suitable software.

Hi @RDH.

There are several factors at play with firmware updates, such as regional differences, along with how and when individual networks are able to push suitable updates out for their customers; and we’re unable to determine what firmware your specific phone should have from the IMEI or Serial Number. Best advice is not only checking Over The Air for updates but also regularly checking through a connection to Smart Switch on a computer, which will let you know of any updates available.

(Edit: I've also edited out the IMEI and Serial Number from your posts, as these can be used to compromise your phone.)
