HELP!!!!!
I have set up automatic backup of all data from my S8+ to Samsung cloud and used it for a month or so without problems, including backup of contacts which were stored on SIM card. Eventually, my SIM card (with all the stored contacts) broke and I had to replace it with new one (in the same phone). Unfortunatelly, I have accidentally created a backup to Samsung cloud when new SIM card with no contacts was already in the phone, before I have restored data from the cloud, and now I have lost all my contacts.
Is there any possible way to get to old back ups in Samsung cloud (not latest one - this one includes no contacts)? I am sure that every back up before replacing SIM card had included contacts. Or maybe there is some other way to restore lost contacts (accept data recovery software - I have tried that with no success)?
I would really appreciate any info on this matter - I have spent hours browsing internet for a solution with no success

It's my understanding that a new Back Up overstrikes the previous one.
I'll do some digging to substantiate this.
If you used gmail then there's a chance your contacts will be there.
Check Google Contacts too.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

Unfortunatelly no. I do use gmail, but there are only two or three contacts there - I have no idea why those are preserved and others not (I had like 500 or 600 contacts, both business and personal). I just cant belive that all of them are lost, even though I had automatic backup.
There is something really wrong with Samsung cloud, you can not access your own data accept from mobile and even then you are very restricted in choices what you can do with those data. I just cant accept that there is not something like cloud recycle bin for old backups. Does anyone know anything about this - logic tells me that there has to be some kind of more permanent storage for uploaded data even after delete and that someone should have access to those data, some kind of administrator or superuser?

Similar problem for me but different circumstance.
My phone started switching off every few minutes in addition to having no keyboard or edge menu available (S7 Edge). I tried a safe boot but no effect so i did a factory reset. The restore from backup did not complete and after midnight the phone did a new automatic backup from the factory reset phone. When I tried to respore from backup all the old data etc had already been overwrittem. No access now to backup data.
Nice move Samsung. Automatic backup creation on a factory reset phone.... now I have a nice blank backup to match my newly reset phone... strange but true...

I am having the same problem. I've tried to restore text messages that contain very valuable information for my upcoming family court battle, I really need these messages back as they have a lot of evidence to support myself and my kids.
Please Samsung find a solution to this!

Hi Any update on this. I created a back up last night about 2000.
Then did a factory reset and left my phone overnight to compete the restore - only to find another update was done at 0054 this morning and clearly the previous restore wasn't done.
I'm on a hotel Wi-Fi which is really slow.

I would like to know if this has been fixed too as I'm having the same problem. All of my memos have disappeared and I had some really important information stored in there. I've trawled the net this evening for some sort of resolution and then came across this thread. I live in hope that Samsung have fixed this problem...
