Gallery not showing images

Hi s7 user here my gallery images have disappeared to be replaced by grey frames with an exclamation mark.only option it gives me is to delete them. As it stands have lost 200 images. Anyone know how or if i can sort thanks

Were your photos stored in your phone storage or in a Sd Card ?

If the Sd Card then go into My files and see if your Sd card is still showing as inserted. Also in Settings -Device Maintenance- Storage -Sd Card - is images showing there. 

Your Sd card have developed a fault. 

Can you try it in another phone or tablet - laptop.

If not then the card might be corrupted. This happened to me and had to reformat which deleted everything unfortunatley. This is why I back up in other places too. 

If it is try removing it and gently wipe the contacts and re insert and boot the phone back up.

Can you move them from Sd card to phone memory ?

If this was my situation i would also try....

1. Soft Reboot the phone by turning the device Off and On. 

2. Settings - Apps - Gallery - Storage - Clear Cache.

3. Check my Samsung Cloud to see if my photos had backed up. 

4. Use that Back up.

5. I also use Dropbox so I can recover any photo I take. 

Please consider using additional storage vaults.

Thanks BoB tried what you said. Newly taken photos are showing on SD card and in gallery but in gallery and sd card old photos are just showing as described above ie greyed out. 2 were in gallery last night but when i cleared cache they disappeared in gallery as described but still show in sd card. Tbh this is all above my capabilities going to try a phone shop tomorrow. Thanks for taking time to respond much appreciated
