I have a Note 8 and I never even knew that there was a face tag icon at the top of every picture in the gallery, because it was never there... there was just never any way for me to tag anyone, or see who anyone was, unless I clicked on "details" and saw who was listed under "people" (which was never anyone, except ocassionally me). Also, I have always had tagging and location turned on, and so was the setting to show tags on each picture. BUT, after I did what you suggested, suddenly there was a face tag icon at the top of every picture... and each picture now has tag bubbles pop up that show people's names in those pictures, and an "X" to delete and rename them.
However, I'm still having a big issue, because it will either do one of two things:
ONE- it literally tags almost everyone (even many of me) as the same person (Kevin). I manually tagged a picture with several people in it, including Kevin, and next thing I know, every person it has tagged in all my pics are "Kevin"...
TWO- There are still many pictures that have people that it won't tag, everyone else is Kevin... and these are clear faces... no blurry pictures, no shadows or weird angles, and nothing blocking them - and it won't let me manually tag those faces, no bubbles appear for them at all. So, it works now - but barely and not correctly! Go figure!
