Other SmartphonesI have the unlocked version of the Note 8 (UK version), yet it's still on the 1 August 2017 security patches.
Other regions have had the October and now November security updates, yet we're given the third class treatment for a flagship phone.
Older phones like the S6 and S7 are getting their updates sooner as well.
Even network provided phones in the US have the updates rolling out.
What's the point buying expensive phones when they're last in line for anything.
Can Samsung stop treating like like rubbish and get their act sorted out!!

Other SmartphonesI'm also awaiting this mythical update. I'm very disappointed in Samsung not learning from their mistakes and pushing frequent updates. I have a pixel 2 I just bought and may well keep and sell this phone.
Samsung if you are indeed reading this I think you owe your high paying customers some serious explanation and to make sure this doesn't happen again. You may make an amazing phone but with service like this Apple will get my money next time!

Other SmartphonesI find it confusing that ive received the Nov 17 Security Patch on my s8 bought direct from the Samsung Experience Store in the UK.
There can't be much if any difference between these phones security patch requirements.

Other SmartphonesI think Samsung should be offering refunds for those of us that bought a note 8 unlocked but are not yet receiving updates. I think in future there should be a contractual obligation in the sale to regularly update handsets otherwise don't expect people to pay a super premium price for handsets!

Other SmartphonesIve totally given up on it now! In the process of selling the note 8 and getting something more update reliable!! Samdung are not interested in addressing this situation or even offering some sort of explanation cos they obviously couldn't care less!!! £900 flagship device with the worst support in the UK I've ever had!!! Bye bye SAMDUNG hello APPLE!!

Other SmartphonesI've used both platforms for years.
Yes Apple sends out updates probably more frequently but these are usually bug patch fixes with the periodic major iOS update once a year.
The real difference is that the Networks do not have a hand in holding back its release apart from Carrier Updates.
Oh and they also slow down previous iPhone's with their iOS releases.
Ive had the November 17 Security Patch bug to be honest I wasn't overly concerned while on the August 17 Security Patch. I'm in no way flippant about this subject.
I hope you get a good price for your Note 8 and the extreme way Apple Sandboxed its iPhone's and iOS does not taint your user experience.

Other SmartphonesSo phoned Samsung support as I'm noticing Bluetooth sound quality issues and I ask the lady about the updates and I'm told they don't prepare the updates directly, the carrier does. So I asked how that is possible since my device is unlocked and I'm told the moment I put their SIM in they push the updates to me. Lol but this just confirmed how clueless their support is!

Other SmartphonesI think the agent got mixed up between Carrier Updates and Firmware / Security Patch Updates!
