Hello . I am using Galaxy A7 2017 and I did not updated my phone to android 8 Oreo.  My question is should I install the update . Will my battery performance get worse or better . Any ideas about the update will help me . I am confused about installing it . (The update notification pops up every day and it's becoming annoying :smiling-face: )

Hi @MrGreywolf

Updating your phone's firmware is very much a personal thing.

Look at what features your getting now from current firmware to what Oreo brings.

To note >  usually a new Security Update comes with the new firmware which is good.

I updated my firmware on my phones because the new features are useful , stability fixes, and I wanted the newest security update.

I agree the reminder pop ups can be distracting !   :winking-face:

Be sure to back up your info and ensure you have ample internal storage space and close all your apps down to give the phone as much usable Ram and resources as possible to use before allowing the update.

Make sure your battery is above 50% and your on Wi-Fi so the process does not eat up your data allowance.

Turn Off Mobile Data in the phone's settings to stop any accidental usage.

I had no issues with battery usage times on my previous Samsung Phone when I updated from Nougat to Oreo.

There will be App updates probably to complete once updated so please allow them too so your apps continue to perform as they should.

So the final decision is yours  :smiling-face:

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

I upgraded to Oreo after changing my display screen. It started dimming on display screen. I came to know that Oreo is not compatible on my new mobile screen.

how to downgrade to Noucat again to test the screen.
