empty email recycle

Both myself and my husband cannot empty email recycle bin they keep coming back , any ideas Samsung J3

do you have a pc or are you just using your phones ?? I normally use my pc to clean up the mail boxes

no just got phones , but have always been able to empty our recycling bins and weird that both phones stopped at the same time

you normally have to delete from the server to remove mail from the phone
.. possibly why I can use my pc and also removes the mail from my phones

This sometimes happens to me @applejack  as I use an imap type of email account.

What i do is delete the emails a few times and then pull down on my screen to refresh the email folder.

After a couple of times they tend to delete or as said by the other members log into your email via your url box and delete them that way.
