Direction Lock broken

I recently set the direction lock on my phone which is located in Settings 》accessibility 》direction lock it seemed like a cool feature but unfortunately I am now unable to turn it off and and as a result my phone can be simply unlocked just by swiping the screen.

It doesn' even request the direction lock I set.

The only time it request it is when I reboot my device.

I am using the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with the latest firmware.

Please assist. Has anyone else had this issue?

I would prefer not to have to format my device

Try

If no resolution then considerTurning off the Samsung Phone. 

Press and hold the Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key at the same time.When the phone powers up the Android System Recovery screen appears approx 30 seconds later.Release all of the keys you had pressed.

Press the Volume down key on the phone to choose the  "wipe cache partition." section.

Press the Power key on the phone to select.

Press the Volume down key to highlight “yes” and press thePower key to select.When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.

Press the Power key to restart the device.

If this does not help then you may need to consider backing up and factory resetting your phone.

I gave it a go but had no luck.

Also to enter recovery mode on note 8 you press power on + volume up + bixby button. 

I' going to hold off formatting my device until tech support looks into it.

Any other suggestions welcomed

hey YohanceJ, any luck? i cannot turn it off, i cannot enter setting, i cannot do anything except scroling down and directions input screen then 30 seconds wait.

this is the most annoyying locking feature ever created. press left then * was the best keypad lock combination.

Hi folks any solution on this.  I have a Samsung s9+ and now it is at 120 minutes between tries.  Why are the other security features not available as a backup .

I believe I had to do a factory reset. Its been so long I can't really remember. I've since got a new phone

I have data on my phone so don't want to factory reset - hoping for a solution.  Now it shows 260 minutes between tries - I wonder how long it will go 🤔.
