I am confused, I purchased a Galaxy A5 2017 A520F unlocked from Samsung. I see Android 7.0 BTU is on there, so I asked question to samsung, Can I put it on my phone, the answer was who do I pay my network charges to, I said O2, and I was told that I would have to wait until they approved the update.
BUT the phone is UNLOCKED running 6.0.1

There are ways to install a custom Rom onto a phone but be aware that can come with side effects too.
Xdadevelopers is a good site to visit for advice and tutorials.
The Btu CsC Code means it's an unlocked phone supplied directly by Samsung and any updates would come from Samsung.
A Branded phone supplied by o2 would have a different firmware version on and any firmwares are then first tested by o2 and then o2 authorise Samsung to send out that particular version.
Alternatively if and when your phone is ready for the update its safer to downlosd this via your phones software settings section.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
