I am trying to reset my late mother in law's Samsung phone to allow it to be used by somebody else, but we do not know her Samsung password. Can you help?

If it has a reactivation lock it is not possible.

I have an old S6 Edge, I purchased it from Samsung, upgraded kept it as a spare, then my son used it thereafter my sister, but she moved to Apple. 2 years later I thought trade it in, but she cannot recall the password, I have tried every method, non worked.

I believe when you fill in a wrong password or pincode when the device turns on, it will prompt you a message that the device will be wiped clean to factory settings after X amount of tries.
