I accepted an update to my phone yesterday, and now when I edit any photos, the original disappears. It's not even in the trash. It's just gone. It never did this before. Indeed, I could edit a photo or crop it etc... a hundred times and save it and it would never eliminate the previous version of the photo. Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be reset??

How do I make it so the edited photo turns into a new photo? A STUPID change from samsung. If I crop an image, why do they think I dont want to keep the original?? As I said, STUPID change.

A certain number of people asked for it to be changed- the rest of us were happy with it. I just got a new Samsung 10, and am complaining about it just NOW (not yelling- emphasizing). They didn't take a survey, only listened to complaints, not those who were satisfied with it. Oy.

The "save original only works once you go into the editing function, at least on my model (Galaxy 10).

um no, i don't think thats possible. but you can actually delay the update if you *haven't* updated yet. then again, that's also temporary bc samsung will automatically update your phone once the dealine is reached

I didn't accept an update, it was forced upon me. I kept delaying it, trying to find and learn the dreadful changes to come in my life. Upon being forced to deep throat samsung developer whimsical updates, i lost features that have been on samsung phones for 20 years. They have always saved a copy when editing a picture in the gallery. Today, my 6 yr old, whom has always played with my phone, changed over 300 pics, and I lost 300 pictures of my grandparents and my parents whom are dead.
Previously I could trust samsung and their products, but the last few years, have really been a butchering of logic and reality. The newest phone took 2.5 weeks to learn, and cost me over 2000$ in income, because some of the changes were so far away from reality. These are whimsical changes for no rerason other than boredom by samsung, attempting to improve REVENUE is likely.
This concept that a company can grab the back of societies head and force all of us to deep throat changes to products that we have paid for and are in our hands is such a socially costly thing. I have a neighbor whose child is autistic and heavily relies on his "phone" (he uses a phone because the rest of us do, but really its a web browsing computer and he finds comfort in using it) and whenever there is a samsung update, their household goes into complete chaos sometimes for up to 3 months, while this autistic human "relearns" his phone. This entire concept that our phone changes and options and the way it functions changes arbitrarily overnight, is probably the single most destructive social act that is happening today in the modern world other than war.
When my phone arbitrarily changes overnight, it takes me and my family sometimes 2 to 3 weeks to get back on track to the changes samsung forces us to deepthraot. There have been times where I've had to spend a week or 2 relearning my phone, which has cost me upwards of $2000 to $3000 dollars in income.
I cannot even believe this stuff is legal sometimes, considering the consequences for the global economy. IT is literally costing us all tons of cash, time, and steress, to just understand our PHONES!
Is samsung intentionally trying to harm global society?
I no longer trust any large corporation, especially the likes of samsung and google. Apparently flipping civilization into the wind like a leaf, creates a better world through ramping up total chaos.
Another aspect we never consider, is that the older humans get, the harder and more difficult retention is, resulting in even more chaos, and social destruction.
I believe if we are going to be forced to pay $2500 and more for phones, samsung et al should be required by law to retrain all of us. At their cost. Anything else, is lost global productivity, which harms all of us.
THIS IS INSANITY THAT I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER MY PHONE. I BOUGHT AND PAID FOR THIS PHONE WITH BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apparently it is not even mine.

I was p*ssed too.
I just discovered that you can revert this.
Go to the picture in the photo editor and simply click on 'discard changes' and voila! your original will be back.

You can revert it back to its original. I just did.
Go back to the editor and select 'discard changes'.
