message app problem

On the s21 ulltra id showing 2 messaging apps. One has 3 dots in it and the other 2 lines. What one is rhe normal one from before and how do i set it to my default app as it wont let me through settings

Options

The three dots is the Samsung standard messaging app.  The alternate one is from the google eco system.   You can use one or the other depending on your preference.  

I believe the google one has extra functionality to support newer RCS standards after SMS as well. 

I have changed to the google version. 

If you want to change the default then open the other app, and it should ask you whether you want to make it default.
