Android 13 Apps Automatically Split Screen

Following the recent update to android 13, everytime I try to open a PDF from within an app it opens the PDF viewer and the current app in split screen automatically. Another issue is that when you tap and hold on an open app it should bring up a dialog box of shortcuts but now when you tap and hold an open app it automatically changes to split screen.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Same issue here. S20 Ultra. It's annoying because the options for split screen are turned off yet apps still open split.
