One UI 5, the latest version of Samsung’s mobile interface, comes with loads of great new features. From improved camera functions and photo editing, to enhanced personalisation and greater accessibility, One UI 5 has powerful new features to make your life more effortless. Read on to find out more about the key features of One UI 5.

Camera and Gallery

The cameras on Galaxy devices have always been one of their key features. And now, on One UI 5, they’re better than ever. Pro mode includes an icon that you can tap to get tips on how to make the most of all the different lenses, options, and controls. And speaking of Pro mode, it now comes with a histogram to adjust the brightness of your shots so that you can get the perfect exposure. On One UI 5, we’ve minimised the zoom bar, making it easier to use with one hand. You can also use the telephoto lens in Food mode, so you can take closeups of your delicious creations.

Customise the albums you see in Gallery, choosing which ones appear by default or hiding albums you use less frequently. If there are any albums you think would work better together, you can merge them into a single album!

Your phone, the way you want it

One UI 5 makes it even easier to customise your phone. Choose from up to sixteen different colour themes to match your wallpaper or select one of the beautiful pre-set colour themes. The lock screen is also super easy to personalise: just tap and hold to choose the wallpaper, clock style, notification settings, and more. Take personalisation even further by setting a different call background for each of your contacts. This way you can see who’s calling you at a glance.

And speaking of customisation, on One UI 5, you can even make the keyboard your own by choosing which keys and punctuation appears next to the spacebar on the bottom row of the keyboard. You also have the option to rearrange where emojis, stickers, and other buttons are on the keyboard.

Extract and scan text

If you’ve got a picture that contains text you need to use in a message or a document, it can be a real pain having to type it all out. Now there’s no need to! Extract text from any image or screenshot, then paste it right into messages, emails, documents…

And it’s not just about extracting text to use in messages; if there’s any text in an image, you’ll get recommended actions based on what’s there. So, if there’s a web address or a phone number in a picture, you’ll be able to tap to visit the website or call the number.

New features on Bixby Routines

Bixby Routines is a great feature that helps you to automate a whole range of things on your phone. With One UI 5, you have more routines, more modes, and more freedom! The Discover screen has been simplified, making it easier to find pre-set routines. And if you want to set up your own routines, there are even more conditions and actions to apply! Start routines when you activate airplane mode or turn on the mobile hotspot. New actions include opening a pair of apps, and adjusting the left/right sound balance.

So that you always know what’s happening, any routines that are currently running will be displayed at the top of the screen. This way, you can make any changes you need to, or even turn off the routine.
