News and tips about Samsung products
In September 2015, at the UN General Assembly, world leaders pledged to make the world a better place. They agreed on a set of seventeen goals – the Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the Global Goals. These Global Goals aim to end poverty, end hunger, achieve gender equality, take action on climate change, and provide clean water sanitation for everyone and much more. In 2019, noting that more progress was needed to achieve the Global Goals by 2030, the UN Secretary-General called on all sectors of society to mobilise for a decade of action to deliver on the Global Goals.
With this in mind, Samsung began a partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) that same year. The UNDP supports the implementation of the Global Goals, which allowed us to make a direct impact. As part of this, Samsung and UNDP launched the Samsung Global Goals app, which now comes pre-installed on the latest Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
Samsung has reached more than one hundred million users globally, which has led to over two million dollars in donations for UNDP to support their work to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals around the world.
Through the app, you can learn about each of the seventeen goals, including what each one is and what it aims to achieve, along with facts and figures about the different topics. You can also use the app to personalise your phone: it includes wallpapers featuring inspirational quotes from notable figures, as well as information on relevant subjects.
As well as finding out about the Global Goals, you can use the app to take part in small actions to raise funds to help support the issues that matter most to you. This includes a mechanism to donate directly to the UNDP to help support its work around the world.
The Global Goals aim to make the world a better place to live in. With the Samsung Global Goals app, you can do your part to help make that a reality.
