Please Note: Do not use compressed air. Don't apply or spray bleaches, cleaners or liquid solutions directly onto your phone. Never submerge your device in cleaning agents or use soap, water or vinegar.

Washing your hands well and regularly is a crucial way to prevent the spread of germs, but many harmful substances can live on the surfaces of devices for hours or even days. This is especially problematic when we consider the amount of times we touch or lift a phone to our faces, or even pass it to others to take photos or calls.

According to a study done by research company Dscout in 2016, we touch our phones about 2,600 times a day. Tapping, swiping, moving and lifting are all examples of physical contact with your device – and contact with whatever germs are living on its surfaces. Keeping it clean should be part of your general maintenance routine all year round.

How to clean your Galaxy device

Instructions applicable  for: Galaxy smartphone, Galaxy tablet and Galaxy Watch (excluding watch strap). Not applicable for Galaxy Buds/ Buds+, keyboards, plastic straps for wearables or other Samsung products.

  1. Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before starting
  2. Turn off your device and unplug any charger
  3. Remove any covers, cables and accessories
  4. Find a clean, soft microfiber cloth. Dampen the corner with a small amount of distilled water or disinfectant
    • Use either a hypochlorous acid-based (50-80ppm) product or alcohol-based (more than 70% ethanol or isopropyl alcohol) product
    • Avoid harsh chemicals that have not been approved to use on electronics. They could wear down your display's coating layer
  5. Gently wipe any glass, ceramic or metal surfaces on the front and back of the device, avoiding openings and gaps
  6. For guidance on cleaning accessories like cases, seek advice from the manufacturer
