Gamescom is now over for another year, and we’ve got to wait a whole year for the next one. However, from 24 to 28 August, over 265,000 gamers from all over the world gathered in Cologne, Germany, for the world’s largest gaming show. Moreover, 2022 was a special year for Gamescom: for the first time in three years, the event was held in person, rather than online.
For such a special event, of course, Samsung Electronics brought something special: the Odyssey City booth, an immersive, hands-on experience that showcased our amazing Odyssey line-up of advanced gaming monitors.
As soon as Gamescom visitors stepped into the Odyssey City booth, they came face to face with the next big leap in gaming monitors including the Odyssey Ark, our ground-breaking 55-inch, 1000R gaming screen. Gamescom was the first time that this amazing gaming screen had been unveiled in the European market. The audience were dazzled by the Odyssey Ark’s impressive size, 4K picture quality, the rotational cockpit mode, and 165Hz refresh rate. Along with the Odyssey Ark, visitors also had the opportunity to play dedicated games on the Odyssey G4 and the Odyssey Neo G8.
Another popular attraction at the Odyssey City booth was the Gaming Hub, the incredible all-in-one game streaming platform. Available on all the Odyssey monitor line-up, as well as 2022 Samsung Smart TVs, with Gaming Hub all you need to enjoy games is a compatible controller – no downloads and no storage space needed. Visitors who tried out the Gaming Hub came away feeling delighted at how easy it made gaming.
Next, it was time for a quiz. Samsung asked visitors a series of questions about the Odyssey monitors line-up, giving prizes to whoever got the most correct answers. One of the questions asked was, “How many speakers and woofers are there on the Odyssey Ark?”. Of course, Samsung super fans who got the right answer – four speakers and two woofers – got a prize.
There were also daily gaming tournaments held in the Tournament Zone, featuring the Odyssey G4 . On the main stage, a five vs. five League of Legends match was held with the Odyssey G8 . Global gaming influencers and visitors took part, with the battle broadcast in real time so that the audience could join in the fun by cheering on the players.
