Summer is almost here, and it’s the perfect time for a swim in the sea or at the pool. If you’re wearing your Galaxy Watch4 , you’ll be able to track how far you’ve swum, how long it’s taken you, and how many calories you’ve burnt. In fact, if you like spending time in the water, the Galaxy Watch4 can help you track a whole host of activities, from canoeing and kayaking to sailing, water-skiing, and windsurfing.

The last thing you want when you’re in the middle of an aquatic workout is for the water to accidentally press one of the buttons on your Galaxy Watch4, messing up your session. Luckily, the Watch4 has a handy feature to make sure this doesn’t happen: Water lock.

Turning on Water lock before getting in the water will disable the Watch4’s touchscreen, helping you to avoid any watery mishaps! Read on to find out how to activate and deactivate Water lock on your Galaxy Watch4.

How to activate Water lock mode

Via the Quick settings panel:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen on your Watch4
  2. Tap the water lock mode icon (it’s two little water drops)

Via settings:

  1. Open settings in the apps menu (the cogwheel symbol)
  2. Tap Advanced features
  3. Switch on Water lock

To deactivate it, simply press and hold the Home key. The watch will make a sound to eject any water that might have got into the speaker. Once it’s done, shake the watch to remove any leftover water from the pressure sensor.
