There’s no denying the Galaxy S23 Ultra has some pretty revolutionary cameras. In fact, it’s Samsung Galaxy’s most advanced camera system to date, with a 200 MP Adaptive Pixel system that lets you take breath-taking photos with amazing detail. And with improved Nightography, you’ll be able to get the sharp shots even with low-light conditions.

But what if we told you there’s a way to make the S23 Ultra’s camera even better? That’s right, with Camera Assistant, you can take your photos from spectacular to mind-blowing! Here you can discover all the great features the app has to offer.

Please note: Before you can try this out, you’ll need to download and install the Camera Assistant app. When you’ve downloaded it, just launch the Camera app, tap Camera settings, then Camera Assistant.

Now you’ll be able to customise a whole range of settings to help you really raise your photography game.

Auto HDR: This will help you capture more detail in the bright and dark areas of the pictures and videos that you take.

Picture softening: Smooth out sharp edges and textures when you’re taking photos. You can set it to Off, Medium or High.

Auto lens switching: If you turn this off, you can manually choose which lens to use in different scenarios, giving you more control over how you take photos.

Quick tap shutter: If you enable this option, you can take a photo as soon as your finger touches the shutter button, rather than when you lift it off. This means that, if you’re trying to snap a fast-moving object, you won’t miss a thing.

Capture speed: With this option, you can choose whether to prioritise quality, balance speed and quality, or prioritise speed. You can also choose between High Resolution; faster capture to capture pictures as quickly as possible; and faster post-processing so you don’t have to wait when opening Gallery to look at your pictures.

Video recording in Photo mode: Use this option to choose whether your phone will record a video when you press and hold the shutter button in Photo mode.

Timer multi-photo options: Here you can customise how you use the timer function. Choose how many pictures your phone will take when you set the timer, as well as how much time there is between each photo. You can take up to seven photos at a time, with up to three seconds between each shot.

Camera timeout: Choose how long the preview screen of the camera will stay open if you don’t touch the screen. The screen can stay on for 1, 2, 5, or 10 minutes.

Dim screen while recording: If you’re recording a video, you can choose how long before the screen will dim: 1, 2, 5, or 10 minutes.

Clean preview on HDMI displays: This option will allow you to see a clean camera preview on the screen when you connect your S23 Ultra to an HDMI-connected display.
