Text/sms Message Notifications

I have just upgraded to a Samsung S20 FE and everything is working apart from sms message notifications not appearing in my status bar or on the icon when i am using google maps, which is all day unfortunately due to being a delivery driver.when i'm not using maps i receive a notification in the status bar, the icon and a sound. Any help would be extremely welcome

why would you be checking messages when you drive? open google maps in popup view

Hey @MarkSaxby ,

it seems that this is a feature from Google Maps to keep you safe while driving. Have you checked the app settings to see if there is anything that allows you to enable this?

I don't check messages while I'm driving but when I stop for a break there are sometimes urgent messages that if I'd been notified about I would have maybe pulled over to check if I'd received a notification in the status bar. Very frustrating as it worked on my S9

I also receive notifications in my status bar when i receive facebook messenger and whatsapp messages
