I was in and out of apps as I usually do, logged into my PayPal by mistake so closed it and pressed my Halifax but every time I pressed it nothing happened. Went on a few different apps and also did the same. I managed to get on my Halifax by uninstaling and adding again but it's done it again. Please help is my phone compromised because is seems to be apps with extra security or am I being paranoid

EDIT...... if you go to Google play and uninstall webview it should sort itself out. Worked for me 🙂

Hello

Just after the the update, some apps have stopped working and seemingly it was due to Android WebView.

Android WebView is a system component powered by Chrome that allows Android apps to display web content on apps without actually opening any browser.

------------------------------

How to uninstall update for Android System WebView:

1. Open Google Play Store

2. Search "Android System WebView"

3.  tap Uninstall

------------------------------

How to clear data when can't find Android WebView on Play Store:

1.  Phone Settings

2. Apps

3. tap three dots / or 3 lines

4. Enable show system apps

5.  Look for Android System WebView

6. Tap Storage

7. Tap Clear Data (this should remove the updates)

-------------------------------

This app may still reinstall itself, hence, we will stop the auto update:

1. Still in Google Play Store

2. Tap Menu (3 lines in upper left)

3.  Settings

4. Auto update apps

5.  Select Don't auto-update apps

Next, turn off and on the phone.

Google developers are cooking already the fix and on its way.

😉🆗

Uninstalling the Android System WebView appears to be your best bet at getting these apps to work right for the moment. To to this, go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App info > Android System WebView. Tap the three dot menu button in the upper right corner. That will reveal a rectangle that says Uninstall updates.

@della89

this app is embedded and we can't totally remove it from device

if disabled already, try clearing the data to remove recent update

tap storage → clear data

then turn off and on the device

😉
