Try inserting another carrier's SIM into the phone and check to see if it works 🙂. In addition, try searching your imei number on imeicheck and it should tell you whether the phone is unlocked or not. Hope this helps! 😁

If you purchased the phone from EE direct then the phone will be locked to EE only. You can request to unlock it after 6 months of ownership and the charge to unlock I think is £8.99... after contract completion, you can unlock the device for free.

From next year things will be different as all phones will come unlocked... (a rule that is very very very long overdue)

Liquidsnake suggestion to test a different network sim card is a good idea if you're comfortable changing sims in the phone yourself.

If you got your phone from somewhere like Carphone Warehouse then usually the device comes unlocked.
