Samsung not listening? Battery indicator remains the same in One UI 8

A number of people have been complaining about the battery indicator since the launch of One UI 7. Instead of simply showing the battery percentage as numbers, Samsung replaced it with a pill-shaped battery icon. We can only choose whether to display the percentage inside that shape or not.

When enabled, the numbers are hard to read, and many users have asked for the option to display the percentage as plain numbers again. I was really hoping that One UI 8 would finally bring that option, but unfortunately I can confirm, it hasn’t.

This is disappointing, to say the least.

And I'm wondering: why? How difficult can it be for a company like Samsung to give users that simple choice? Even if most people don’t mind, a significant number clearly do, and for good reason. It’s fair to say that plain numbers are more legible than numbers (also smaller?) inside a colored shape.

Not sure what you're referring to. The battery indicator is different on the S25 Ultra?

It was in One UI 7, it was a thinner version with smaller text.

Okay, I see. As far as I can tell, they haven’t changed it on my S22; it was and still is #@$%&! 😉 Maybe they adjusted it specifically for the Ultra model or the 25 series? Either way, good for you that it’s better now.

It was originally like that for the S25 series. When the other S models went into beta, they had the current pill looking one. The S25 series followed it after.
