Samsung Camera portrait zoom

Why is it not possible to use digital zoom with the Samsung camera app in portrait mode?

@Ququka: For optimal results while using Portrait Mode you are required to be around 1 - 1.5m from the subject, so the option to zoom is not available. This is also related to the background blur effects that can be added after the image has been captured.

In that case, digital zoom could even improve Portrait Mode because the distance can then be adjusted to that 1 to 1 - 1.5 m?
