Gallery not in cronological order

I've just done a smartswitch from an S8 to an S23.

All the images and videos have transferred, but are not in the right order. All videos appear above the images. 

I have followed all online advice such as permissions settings; sorting in albums; clearing cache; switching on and off.

Nothing is putting the main screen within Gallery back in cronological order. Can anyone help?

Plenty of posts about this before.

People mention that the modified date changes, or something like that, so when it gets put back into gallery then it's been modified to today's date so they're technically in order from a phone perspective. If that makes sense?

As far as I know there isn't a way to change it so they'll just be dumped in the gallery.

If you have a PC, you could maybe transfer the photos from the S8 to their then transfer them over to S23? Not sure how successful that will be but always worth a go.

I'm sure someone else may pop up with another suggestion if you hang about 🙂

Have you tried the photos app? I think there's two installed. Might be worth checking out. I think it's hidden in the Samsung folder.

You are probably looking at the recents folder, which just shows the pictures you have looked at recently, hence the name recents, you should be in the pictures section 

 

 (I had to blur out parts because of personal info such as id)

Press the back arrow (circled beside recents title), then select pictures (circled in picture no.2) and they should be sorted
