Gallery app

I have a galaxy a20 with a standard samsung gallery(fully updated to newest update) and when i go to videos in my gallery and click the CC button it only has the OFF option that says no subtitles available and i cant add my own subtitles. Is there something I need to do to be able to use and edit subtitles on videos in the gallery app

I think the subitiles have to somehow get added to the video ut I'm not sure tho

I'm pretty sure that there needs to be a file for the app to read the subtitles off of
