Dear all,

I am trying to set a shortcut to the tethering settings, but I cannot find any suitable widget in those available.

I used an old Samsung which had a Setting widget that could be customized to some Settings submenus.

It allowed a less stressful usage of the smartphone.

Any workaround?

Thanks in advance

You are correct, it has been moved to the settings panel for quick access. Try this:

Go to Play Store find and download Activity Launcher
Open the app and search for Hotspot
Long press com.android.settings.TetherSettings
and a sub menu should pop up, select create shortcut.
Job done!

@Members_KwbOgTY ,hello, in the control panel you have a shortcut for Mobile hotspot.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Sorry, but I cannot find the control panel you mentioned (the device is localized in Italian, so terms could be a little different).

I know how to setup a Mobile hotspot and tethering (Settings->Connections->Mobile Hotspot and Tethering), but I would like to set an icon in home that with a single tap opens the "Mobile Hotspot and Tethering" panel.

This operation was easy in my old phone, due to the "Settings widget" which allowed to reach a number of submenus, with no need of navigating.

Swipe from the top of the screen to access the panel.

I have no problem in finding the Settings panel and then, in few taps, the Mobile Hotspot and Tethering panel.

The problem is setting an icon in the home (the shortcut) to access _directly_ to the Mobile Hotspot and Tethering panel.

This operation was once possible using the "Settings widget", which seems to be no longer available.

Thanks for the help.

But I would like to use the USB tethering.

Can I customize the buttons in the control panel in order to access to an arbitrary panel?

Thanks, it works!

A little sad that a widget useful for improving accessibility and customization has been eliminated and a third party app needed to replace this functionality.
Thanks to the community for the help.
And thanks also to Adam M. Szalkowski (Activity Launcher developer) and the team!
