Hello,

It would be very nice if someone knew what to do with this problem.

I have a new Samsung A53 5G and I have a big BIG problem. I am hard of hearing. I therefore use the mobile's audio output and route it through my studio's mixing console. That always worked fine : receiving audio is amplified and my own voice comes in through the standard mike of the mobile.

In it's INFINITE wisdom Samsung has decided to replace the audio jack with a usb-c jack. The problem with this is, then when I plug in the cable  that connects the mobile with the mixing console, that stupid mobile automatically expects a headset; in other words headphones with a built in mike. It disables the mobile's mike completely.

So when I make a phone call I can listen to the other side, but I cannot be heard. This is bloody stupid.

There are millions of people in the world who need to use headphones and not all of them have a headset with a mike. I make music on a MacBook and I have a very good pair of headphones that you will never be able to find with a stupid mike attached to it. For that I use a professional Sennheiser microphone.

This cost me a lot of time and it still does not work. And I have been solving problems in IT for over 30 years so it is not like I don't know anything about this.

So what I need is a way to let the audio go out via the usb-c port, but still have a working internal microphone.

Is there anybody out there who found a workaround for this problem ?  It would be very very VERY much appreciated.

Rob.

I think its also a good idea to get used to the fact that litterly all companies are getting rid of the 3.5 mm port. Its old technology, all companies are switching to newer and more advanced wireless technologies. You and I may not like it but thats how it is. For now this might work but its a good thing to look for a long term solution for the future 🙂

Hello,

Do you use a original Samsung adapter from USB c to 3.5mm?

Hello,

No, I simply bought an adapter from the MediaMarkt in town.
Audio out works, input obviously does not as nothing is connected to it for input purposes anyway.

If I need to get one specifically from Samsung can you also explain why? And where I would then find the option(s) to separate the input from the output(in the settings)?

Kind regards,

Rob.

Wich adapter did you buy? If its a third party adapter it might not work.

An orginal from Samsung should work.

Ok thanks.

One more question though :

If I connect an original adapter this will support headsets so it can playback and record through the same device.

Will the mobile automatically detect it if there is a simple stereo headphone attached? As you know that connector has less separate rings than a complete headset with mike.
So if the mobile does not detect a connected microphone, will it then simply use the microphone in my mobile?

Because that should solve the problem indeed and then I can get one of the Samsung connectors.

Cheers,

Rob.

Theoretically it should, but if thats actually the case I cant say for sure. I think thats a matter of testing it yourself.
