Hello,

End April/begin May this year Quick Share from Google (previously named Nearby Share) stopped working on my computer (Windows 10). Before that I transferred files to/from my pc and my Samsung Galaxy M20 numerous times without any problems. Now, w
hen I start the app on my computer,  a solid black window appears.

I posted a question on the Community for Android forum, moderated by Fred JR (the topic can easily be found by searching for "Quick Share from Google not working - black app window"). After following a number of repair options suggested by Fred without success, he eventually referred me to Samsung developer support.

I sincerely hope  a solution for this problem can be found, as I loved this app.

Hallo Members_Xc3qaKR,

Our Product Specialist asks if you checked on your PC Settings ---> System ----> Shared experiences ---> Check if Nearby Sharing is turned on ---> Check if 'Visibility' is set to 'Everyone nearby'.

After this does the app still shows a black screen?

With kind regards,

Ajay

.. and (to avoid misunderstanding) the black app window still appears when opening the app.

Hello Ajay,

Is there any update on this issue from the Product Specialist?
BTW, I have an addition to make to the in formation shared earlier: Even though the black screen appears on my desktop I am able to send files from my (samsung) phone to my desktop (while the black screen is on).  Visa versa is not possible, as, due to the black screen, I have no  interface on my desktop to search for and select the target device.  See enclosed pic.

Hallo @Members_Xc3qaKR,

Our Product Specialist ask if you also share the full modelcode and Serialnumber of your M20 through a private message. When I received it I will send it to her.

With kind regards,

Ajay

Hello Ajay,
Attached screen copies from the Droid Info app, (hopefully) containing the details the product specialist is asking for.

BTW, i don't quite get why her attention is focusing on the mobile device, as the problem is obviously on the desktop PC...

Kind regards,
Gijs

Hello Joey,
Surprise, surprise!  All of a sudden, but after  Windows updates  rolled out and installed on October 12 and 13 the black screen has not returned anymore. I now have the normal Quick Share UI window on my desktop computer.
For your information, the following updates were installed:

Assuming that the Quick Share app for Windows is built with the .NET library, I have the feeling/suspicion that the app now  working has to do with the .NET Framework update, about which Microsoft states the following:

It would be nice if you could verify this.

Kind regards,
Gijs
