New washing machine purchased from Currys on 10/2/23. At the end of April 2023 mid cycle I found the door seal had come off with the tensioning strap out of place. The machine was installed and used as per manufacturers instructions.

I contacted Samsung Customer Services and was advised that the door seal is not covered under warranty. As a good will gesture Samsung offered to arrange an engineer visit to repair and if a manufacturer's fault was detected they would cover the repair.

I received a call from the engineer and explained the issue. He did not hesitate in making it clear that it would not be down to manufacturer's fault. Without even looking at it?

I contacted Samsung and basically went round in circles. Samsung would not move on their position.

Online research suggested this was a common fault with Samsung washing machines.

I contacted Currys however while very empathetic they redirected me to Samsung.

I have approached Currys to request consideration that the washing machine is not fit for purpose. c£500 for a washing machine that after less than 3 months use in accordance with all manufacturer's instructions begins to leak? They are again sympathetic but 2 months on I still await resolution.

I am considering a small claims court action and also a charge back via the credit card used to make the purchase.

I'm keen to hear from any one who has faced the same issues.

Hi, it's disappointing Currys fobbed you off. Your contract is with Currys and under the Sale of Goods act is their responsibility. Other methods such as a refund via charge back are again with Currys.

Thanks Pugs1957, would you believe Currys contacted me again to discuss. I mentioned the charge back and consideration to small claims and they kept me on the phone while they spoke to Samsung. The Currys rep came back to me to say 'Samsung want to speak to you directly again but that seems like going round in circles.' They asked me to wait until they could review and the next day came back to say they would replace the washing machine as it was faulty. I have to say while it was frustrating the Currys reps were empathetic and good on the phone, got there in the end.
