i gave brought back a us drier DVE45M5500Z to the uk. Does want one know what I need to do to get it working?

Is it a 120V unit that you've tried to run on 240V...

That’s correct. It’s says that it is 120v on the unit by the installations instructions says it 120v - 240v. I haven’t plugged it in yet as I was afraid to blow something. Does anyone know of it will work if I plug it straight  to 240v?

You need to contact a Samsung service centre or anyone reputable who can check whether the machine is in fact able to run on 120-240V or just 120V. If it can only run on 120V then there's nothing reasonable you can do to get it running, apart from maybe buying an appropriately rated 240V to 120V inverter.
