Strange segments on display of RS50N3513SA refrigerator

Does anyone know what might be going on here with the "extra segments" on display?

When the door is open:

It doesn't look like one of the usual segment-based error codes.

@benobeno: I can see what you mean. Do the lines/extra segments remain visible if you adjust the Fridge and Freezer temperature? If you unplug the appliance at the wall, then plug it back in, does the problem persist?

Yes, the segments remain visible, in fact there's another segment which is half-lit up when I cycle through the temperatures:

I turned it off at the wall, waiting 10 seconds and then turned it back on and the lines are still there.

@benobeno: Thank you for clarifying that for me. This is certainly unexpected, and is quite difficult to troubleshoot from this position. I noticed that the 'Filter' icon is showing in red on the display, which means its time to change your filter. To eliminate this as a possible cause of your display issues, please replace your water filter, then press and hold the Filter Reset (Ice Type) button for 3 seconds to reset the schedule. Similarly, try changing the Ice Type to see if the problem persists. 

For further support I recommend arranging for an authorised engineer to inspect the fridge for you. If you head to samsung.com > Scroll to the bottom of the page > Contact us, and get in touch via your preferred channel, then an advisor will be able to make the necessary arrangements for you.
