I don’t know what to do about this. The Wool cycle defaults to 40 degrees, which is far, far too high for anything but extremely synthetic knitwear. If I turn it down to 30 degrees it doesn’t get clean at all; the garments smell and have stains on. If I keep it at 40, it ruins my knitwear; a jumper I’ve had three months is already pilling as a result. I’m using Ecover delicates liquid detergent.

I used the same detergent, on a 20/30 degree wash in my (much cheaper) Beko machine and it worked perfectly, without damaging my clothes.

At the moment I feel I have been conned and want a refund. Can anyone help? The online rep was no help. He just told me I had to just use the 40 degree wash or it wouldn’t work. I shouldn’t have to choose between dirty clothes or ruined clothes, surely?

@HG18: I have looked into this for you, and the user manual mentions that the Wool Cycle is specifically intended for machine washable wool, and features a fine pulsating and soaking action that prevents the wool fibres from shrinkage/distortion. It is also recommended to use a neutral, liquid detergent, as powder detergent can remain on the laundry and discolour the clothes.

what about the 'Delicates' cycle - can you safely wash woolen garments on that without ruining them?

Hi Andrew, I use Ecover Delicates Liquid Detergent, which is neutral and designed specifically for silks and wools.

I’ll try the delicates cycle again today!

yes you could try the ecover still but on the delicates cycle as well I am sure, that will not do any harm.
I have tried ecover before with my washing, it left stains and previous smells. So I went back to Biological liquid and it was much better in that respect.
On the wool cycle on the samsung if you turn it down to 30c can you select Bubble Soak option (which adds about another 30minute soaking bubbles) and/or 'Intensive' (which lengthens the wash cycle to give items a longer wash time I think) - these (if they can be selected as an option) might just be the cure to wash at 30c but still remove the stains and the smells.

I see that your machine is manual dose one , so just check that you are not 'Under-Dosing', and try to use a bit more detergent - it might help.

To help with bobbling make sure you are only washing wool garments together and no other garments in the wash, nothing with zips or hooks - it may help

Good luck
